“Echoes Of Silence” review
The Weeknd…Where do I begin? Pain never sounded so good on record in a long time and in a time where artist  are scared to show a bit of emotion and truth in their music Abel Tesfaye aka The Weeknd seems to do it effortlessly. Tesfaye came on the scene last year 2011 with backing of fellow Canadian Drake. He dropped the 9 track album “House Of Balloon’s” a dark and drugged out collection of twisted RnB tracks which many might argue should not even be labeled as RnB but rather “trip hop”, due to the constant drug references. Following the success of HOB he dropped another 9 track album by the name of “Thursday”. This album introduced a more experimental side of Tesfaye as he goes about his mission of convincing girls to sleep and party with him but not to fall in love with him in his own twisted way. On December 21 The Weeknd dropped the last of his three part trilogy titled “Echoes Of Silence”. This album introduced listeners to a more personal side of Tesfaye which was exciting for many fans as Tesfaye is famous for his elusive personality (He hasn’t gave one interview yet). The album opens up with an impressive remake of Michael Jacksons “Dirty Diana” in which Tesfaye surprisingly is able to match mike vocal for vocal. One of the stand out tracks on the album is track 7 produced by new comer Claims Casino called “The Fall”. Here Tesfaye claims he is not scared to lose it all and hit rock bottom once again as he sings “I ain’t scared of the fall…I felt the ground before” Echoes of Silence turns out to be a mix of “HOB” and “Thursday”, some might argue that this is his best one yet. The Weeknd has stated via twitter that he plans to re-release the trilogy as a package this year. Will this year be the year of The Weeknd? Only time will tell.

Who Will Survive?
Depression is a common theme amongst adults and teens. Depression does not discriminate you can find him hanging around your next door neighbor or even that little old lady down the street. But what makes people depressed? And why is it so common?  Research shows that depression can stem from family history or chemical changes in the brain. It also can come from constant negative experiences or an event that was traumatizing. Depression can bring about feelings of hopelessness, anger, sadness, and physical health problems if not treated right. Now a question I have to ask: Can we say that the whole America is depressed right now? Tough times equal sad minds and that is exactly what it feels like people in America are going through.  A mind is a delicate thing and it can either make you or break you. Optimist say to think and stay positive but it’s hard not to get wet when you’re dancing in the rain. Many would love to just get off the planet right about now and just leave it all behind but reality sets in and so does depression. Fear is at an all-time high now, the world is “ending” and good economy took a vacation. Who will survive in America?
